Waterford Airport

  • Waterford Airport

Waterford Airport (operated by Waterford Regional Airport plc) is the only airport located in the South East of Ireland. The airport is 9km south-southeast of the City of Waterford, and 5km northeast of the Town of Tramore.

We serve a mix of passenger services and general aviation, particularly private business aircraft and leisure and training flights.

Over the past number of years we have significantly grown our scheduled passenger services with Aer Arann operating services to the UK (London Luton and Manchester) and to Lorient in France in the summer months using turboprop aircraft. Passenger numbers increased significantly in 2007 with Aer Arann expanding its services to Birmingham and intensifying existing routes.

Summer 2007, saw the introduction of another three destinations from Waterford Airport with Malaga, Faro and Bordeaux each served on a twice weekly basis using an BAe 146 jet aircraft. These routes will be operated by Aer Arann in 2008, with the addition of Amsterdam – a very exciting development for Waterford Airport.

The airport’s infrastructure also supports a range of other activities including a Pilot Training College, International Academy of Travel and a number of small aviation related businesses. The Irish Coastguard Search and Rescue bases two Sikorsky rescue helicopters in a purpose built hangar at the airport flying regular training missions and vital rescue missions. CHC, the Coastguard’s operating company, now service their aircraft in Waterford and also use it as a training facility.
