The next Founder Friday event to take place 7th July, 6-9pm Revolution Bar, John Street

 

Founder Friday Waterford is a free monthly meetup (on the first Friday of every month) for local start-ups and established business owners for a fireside chat and Q&A.  Local entrepreneurs share their story of why and how they started, what drives and inspires them, the pains and gains along the way. All entrepreneurial spirits including (and not limited to) techies, designers and business folk are invited to join in for Founder Friday to have a chat and have some fun, make new connections and relax at the end of the working week. 

 

Organisers are delighted to have Nichola Beresford and Louise Grubb joining them for the July event.

US officials to visit Enterprise Ireland

 

On Thursday, June 29th, Global Situation Room, Inc. are organizing a program with representatives from the economic development agencies of several US states and cities. They'll talk about the resources and support available to help Irish firms set up in the state. For small and medium sized businesses, their assistance can be critical to a successful entry into the American market.

 

There will also be a number of experts offering their advice and insights. They include one of the top global business professors from Arizona State University, Princess Diana's former Chief of Staff, and the Irish Times' US correspondent.

SME Support for Lighting Upgrades pilot grant scheme

 

SEAI lighting 4

 

SEAI want to help you reduce your energy use and costs, making you more competitive as a result. To do this, we have recently launched our Smart Lighting grant scheme which will support you in carrying out a lighting upgrade.

 

Energy efficient lighting can save you up to 90% on your annual lighting electricity costs!

 

Eligible applicants are SMEs with less than 50 employees from the following sectors:

 

  • Fitness Centres
  • Retailers
  • Small Hotels / Large B&Bs
  • Pharmacies
  • Nursing Homes
  • Jewellers

 

SEAI will cover up to 40% of the cost of replacing existing lighting. This lighting must be in working order and in a building that is in general use at the time of the application.

 

Technologies covered include:

 

  • New energy efficient light products. These products must be on the SEAI triple E register and eligible for Accelerated Capital Allowance.
  • Lighting controls.
