KBC extends deadline for €200,000 Bright Ideas funding for community and business groups

KBC Bright Ideas 3

13th June 2017: KBC Bank Ireland announced that there are just under four weeks left for community groups to apply for funding through its Bright Ideas programme after the deadline for applications was extended to 30th June 2017. This year KBC has doubled its KBC Bright Ideas support fund to €200,000 and launched a new scheme for Ireland’s leading social innovators and entrepreneurs.

KBC’s Business Bright Ideas will assist for-profit organisations in the business of having a positive impact on a city or community by addressing a particular social need.

Following a judging process a top award of €50,000 will be granted to the winning applicant who can show how the funding will help have a positive impact on communities. A total of €100,000 will be shared among the top entrants.

KBC’s Bright Ideas community support initiative returns for a fourth year to support individuals and organisations which are transforming and improving the lives of others in their locality. KBC is calling on community groups across the country to apply for financial support for their dream projects from a second fund of €100,000. In addition, ten winners will be selected by KBC’s judging panel to enter a public vote for Ireland’s ‘Brightest Idea’, with an additional €5,000 funding reserved for the overall winning project. More than 400 community projects applied to KBC’s Bright Ideas for funding last year.

The Bright Ideas initiative has awarded over a quarter of a million in funding provided to 120 community projects to date. With enquiries still pouring in, KBC is giving community and business projects until 30th June 2016 to submit applications for funding.

The applications submitted to date show that community and business groups are asking for help to fund projects that can improve social inclusiveness, assist farmers through technology, improve financial literacy and make accessible travel easy.

Encouraging community and business groups to apply this year, Aidan Power, Director of Customer, Brand & Marketing at KBC Bank Ireland, said:“The response to Bright Ideas from community and business groups right across the country has been great, so much so that KBC has decided to extend the deadline for applications. This year we launched our Business Bright Ideas fund and our team of Business Bright Ideas judges are particularly eager to hear from social enterprises, for- profit organisations that have the potential to positively impact a city or community by addressing a particular social or community need. The clock is ticking until the closing date of 30th June.”

Applications to KBC’s Bright Ideas can be submitted through the bank’s easy to use online portal at www.kbcbrightideas.com. Applications for 2017 are welcome until 30th June 2017 from innovative community and business projects based anywhere in the Republic of Ireland.
