Elizabeth Cooney and Friends - String Sextet Tour begins in Waterford

A string ensemble composed of rising international stars and seasoned pros kicks off a six venue tour of Ireland in Ireland on 16th May with a concert of Romantic string sextets by Tchaikovsky and Brahms.

 

The tour continues to Cork, Galway, Sligo, Navan and Dublin. To perform two magnificent works for string sextet violinist Elizabeth Cooney will be joined by an exciting array of musicians from Ireland and the UK: violinist Mairéad Hickey, international prize winner now studying at the Kronberg Academy; violists Simon Aspell of the Vanbrugh Quartet and Ruth Gibson of Ensemble 360; and cellists Brian O'Kane of the Navarra Quartet and Guy Johnston of the Aronowitz Ensemble and winner of BBC Young Musician and Brit Awards. 

 

The Italian lyricism and Russian virtuosity of 'Tchaikovsky's ‘Souvenir de Florence’ for String Sextet will be followed by Brahms’ Sextet No.1 in B flat, Op.18, one of the best loved works in the chamber music repertoire which is both reflective and exuberant in character. The concert in Waterford is promoted by Waterford-Music who celebrate 75 years of bringing the best of Irish and international classical artists to perform in the heart of the city. Tchaikovsky’s ‘Souvenir de Florence’.

 

Speaking about the event, chairman Elizabeth Twohig said, "we are thrilled to welcome Elizabeth Cooney and ensemble back to our stage. It will be a brilliant conclusion to our 75th season."

Avril Bowe joins Walsh’s Bakehouse team

Walsh’s Bakehouse Waterford is delighted to announce the appointment of Avril Bowe as Sales and Marketing Manager. This is a new role for the company, and is part of a larger expansion plan, currently being rolled out at the long-established Waterford bakery.

 

Avril joins the team at Walsh’s Bakehouse this month, bringing over 20 years’ experience in hospitality sales and marketing to this iconic Waterford brand.

 

Speaking on her recent appointment, Avril said: “There are very ambitious expansion plans in place for the future of Walsh’s Bakehouse and I look forward to working with Dermot, Michael and all the team growing the product lines. I am also very conscious of how important the history, heritage and providence of the Blaa is, and as a proud Waterford woman, I look forward to being the story teller of this great success story.”

The expanding range of products, which are being distributed nationwide through a range of leading food services companies, can now be sampled in some of Ireland’s favourite eateries, including Lough Erne Resort, Hatch & Co in Dublin and Bodega Waterford.

The Home Instead Senior Care franchise network in Ireland has been named a Finalist in the 2017 Irish Franchise Association Awards. It has been shortlisted in the Best Franchise System and Best Practice category and is testament to the quality management system and service offered by the 25 Home Instead Senior Care offices throughout Ireland. 

 

Emma Schutte, Operations Manager of the Home Instead Senior Care national network, is responsible for ensuring a franchise and operations system that helps creates the environment for franchise offices in Ireland to be successful and provide an unrivalled home care service.

As of April 26th, two of Ireland’s most respected Sage partners have merged and will now be known as Pimbrook.

 

The marriage of Pims Business Systems and Brook Software Solutions has resulted in a dynamic new company that currently services over 1,000 customer sites. It combines Pims’ expertise in Sage 50 and Payroll with Brook’s expertise in Sage 200 and Warehouse Management.

 

The new company brings over seventeen years of experience to bear as an accredited Sage Developer and Reseller, responsible for developing, implementing and supporting Sage Business Management Solutions for clients right throughout Ireland.

Work Related Health Risks

The Health and Safety Authority announced a new health and safety strategy 2016-2018 which placed an increased focus on work related health risks. Employers have a legal obligation to assess all workplace health risks which may cause illness and comply with health and safety general application regulations.

 

Government consults on healthy workplace framework

As part of its Healthy Ireland initiative, the Government is currently holding a public consultation on the development of a Healthy Workplace Framework. The consultation was launched in Dublin in March 2017 by the Minister for Health Promotion, Marcella Corcoran Kennedy, and Minister Pat Breen, the Minister for Employment and Small Business.

 

This high value seminar will outline a best practice approach for Irish businesses who wish to develop integrated employee health and wellbeing programmes.
