Smovey Parkinsons

smovey health has extremely exciting news to share. Irene Treacy Irelands' first smovey COACH along with two very special guests is doing a Parkinson’s workshop in Dublin next month.

Parkinson’s specialist Karl Stirling is coming all the way from New York who will share with us his best practises and techniques to help people with Parkinson’s overcome daily challenges from rolling over in bed, improving gait, balance, coordination, cognitive behaviour & dexterity.

Irene Treacy did this workshop with Karl in London only a few weeks ago and could not believe how he helped so many people with Parkinson’s overcome some of their challenges and they all left totally “buzzing and empowered to help themselves”. Please check out Karl’s website www.physiochains.com.

Second special guest is Dr. Ryan Foley, from Evolve Physiotherapy & Wellness in Waterford who has recently returned from America and will be using Applied Function Neurology to give some hands on practical techniques to help improve some issues like balance and rigidity.

Both these specialists will be asking for participation from the group so if you have any particular issues that you’d like help with, this is your chance to get help from the experts. At the day Irene Treacy will be giving a smovey demonstration and showing some new exercises to help with many issues that people with Parkinson’s suffer on a daily basis from improving balance, coordination, mobility and helping with constipation. Please like “smovey health” on Facebook to see videos on Karl & Ryan next week talking about the workshop.

The Granville Hotel were announced Gold Award Winners on Saturday last in Dingle at the prestigious Irish Food Awards 2017 for its Raspberry Jam and also received the overall product Best in Waterford Award, Blas na hEireann Irish Food Awards, a trusted accreditation and mark of Irish quality.

Celebrating and rewarding the very best tasting Irish food and drink products, and the passionate, driven producers who make it.

The Blas awards are the biggest blind tasting of produce in the country, and the criteria on which the product is judged as well as the judging system itself, which was developed by Blas na hEireann with the Food Science Dept of UCC, is now recognised as an international industry standard.

Research has shown that the Blas accreditation has the highest recognition amongst Irish consumers and using the award logo is their guarantee of a top quality Irish product.

Blas na hEireann was founded so that quality benchmarks could be established for Irish produce on a level playing field. “Winning at Blas has made a significant business difference to our winners.”

LCE Design Risk

As per the HSA (Health and Safety Authority) guidelines “The duties of Designers are in addition to those under Section 16 of the Safety, Health and Welfare at Work Act, 2005 which requires designers to ensure that the project is capable to being constructed to be safe, can be maintained safely and complies with all relevant health and safety legislation.”

Designers must:

  • Identify any hazards that their design may present during construction and subsequent maintenance;
  • Where possible, eliminate the hazards or reduce the risk e.g. can roof-mounted equipment be placed at ground level or can guardrails be provided to protect workers from falling?
  • Communicate necessary control measures, design assumptions or remaining risks to the PSDP so they can be dealt with in the safety and health plan;
  • Co-operate with other designers, PSDP and PSCS;
  • Take account of any existing safety and health plan or safety file;
  • Comply with directions issued by the PSDP or PSCS;

Waterford Technologies siscin dashWaterford Technologies, experts and leaders in email and file archiving, today announced the worldwide launch of SISCIN Local Storage, enabling clients to take advantage of Cloud power and scalability without any risk of their data being exposed to the Cloud.

SISCIN Local Storage enables analysis, management and reporting on server storage. Harnessing the scalability and flexibility of Cloud analysis, the client data remains on the Local network at all times, making it ideal for Cloud risk-averse organizations.

Waterford Technologies CEO, John Brennan said, "We are proud to address the popular demand for Local Storage with the powerful analysis of Cloud, ensuring that all our clients have equal opportunity to benefit from SISCIN’s insight without risk. With unstructured data continuing exponential growth and hard-hitting legislation such as GDPR coming fast down the tracks, we are delighted to enable clients to implement insight and best practice Data Management and our experts are here to guide them every step on the way."

Utilising a unified dashboard view, SISCIN Local Storage allows Data Managers to simply view the server estate, identify useful data, delete or move redundant or seldom used data assets to cheaper archive and manage the drilled down reporting process.

Freedom and Empowerment for Data Managers

"SISCIN Local Storage empowers our clients who have had all the common problems with storage growth, associated cost and IT resourcing which would naturally drive most to seek a Cloud solution. However; for some organizations, due to internal policies and risk aversion in terms of Cloud adoption, not to mention Data retention and fear of legislative changes, an inertia develops which does not allow best Data Management practice. SISCIN Local Storage will give Data Managers the freedom, confidence and clarity of vision they need to make important Data driven decisions based on fact without any Cloud risk," said Lorcan Kennedy, CTO, Waterford Technologies.
