Sanofi Engineers Ireland AwardSanofi Waterford has followed up on its October successes with two further national awards in Ireland.

The site was named as Life Sciences Exporter of the Year at the Export Industry Awards 2017 hosted by the Irish Exporters Association in Dublin, Ireland on Friday (17 Nov).

Following Waterford’s double success at the Pharma Industry Awards last month, the award recognises Sanofi’s role in supplying therapies from Waterford to patients worldwide as well as the company’s economic contribution in Ireland.

The awards ceremony was attended by Mary Mitchell-O’Connor TD, the Irish Minister of State for Higher Education along with several ambassadors and leaders from Irish and multinational businesses.

Meanwhile, the Waterford site team also won an Engineers Ireland award recently. The Irish Maintenance & Asset Management Society Awards are an initiative of Engineers Ireland’s special interest group for maintenance, reliability and asset management practitioners.

The Technology Award won by Sanofi Waterford was for the site’s PdM (Predictive Maintenance) and CBM (Condition-Based Monitoring) and how the team use this technology and integrate it into the site maintenance system.

As well as making use of existing technologies, they are also developing new ways to use it so that they maximise efficiencies and eliminate any unnecessary downtime.

Welcoming the awards, Ruth Beadle, Site Head, Sanofi Waterford, said: “It’s always nice to be recognised for what our team do in Waterford every day.

“We are fortunate to work in an environment where we have the opportunity to serve patients right around the world and to contribute to the Irish economy through direct and indirect employment as well as in export revenues. We appreciate these awards – particularly following so soon after our being named as Biotech Company of the Year and overall Pharma Industry Company of the Year at the Irish Pharma Industry Awards last month.”
