Aisling IIRRT 2

Aisling Ryan, Senior Radiation Therapist at UPMC Whitfield Cancer Centre, was announced as winner of the 2017 Medray / IIRRT Radiation Therapist award at the 21st Irish Institute of Radiography and Radiation Therapy (IIRRT) Annual Conference which took place in Cork recently.

A graduate of Trinity College Dublin BSc(Hons) in Radiation Therapy, Aisling has been part of the UPMC Whitfield Cancer Centre team since 2012.  Aisling works as Senior Radiation Therapist on UPMC’s programme for men with prostate cancer, particularly its prostate brachytherapy programme.  Aisling also has a special interest in psycho-oncology and the overall well-being of the patients under her care.

 “As the professional body representing radiographers and radiation therapists in Ireland, the IIRRT honours the very best practitioners in our sector.  This accolade is testament to the esteem in which Aisling is held, not only by her peers, but by her patients,” said Catriona McDonald, Director of Operations, UPMC Whitfield Cancer Centre.

Sanofi Biotech Company of the YearSanofi Waterford were double winners at this year’s Pharma Industry Awards presented in Dublin on Thursday (06 Oct 2017).

The Waterford site of the global healthcare leader was named as Biotech Company of the Year and also won the overall Pharma Industry Company of the Year award which is selected from across all of the award winners.

In addition, Brendan O’Callaghan, an Irishman who is Vice President and Head of the Biologics Platform at Sanofi globally was named as Pharma Leader of the Year.

The prestigious awards are judged by a panel drawn from BioPharmaChem Ireland; Science Foundation Ireland; National Institute for Bioprocess Research & Training (NIBRT); Shannon Applied Biotechnology Centre; Pharmaceutical Managers’ Institute Irelandand the Affiliation for Pharmacy Practice Experiential Learning (APPEL) along with academics from higher education institutions including UL; UCD; DCU; TCD and UCC.

Colourtrend Adel Roche

Last week  over 50 customers of Colourtrend Paint and Wallpaper were treated to an evening with colour Psychologist and Interior designer Adel Roche who gave advice and guidance on creating the perfect decorating scheme. The event was held in the store at Kingsmeadow Retail Park.
